DIRECTOR’S CUT OF THREE-TIME BEST COMEDY AWARD WINNER “CURTAINS” IS NOW AVAILABLE TO STREAM ON PRIME VIDEO
NOV. 23, 2020 — Following its world premiere at the Oscar-qualifying L.A. Shorts International Film Festival and screenings at more than two dozen festivals, three-time Best Comedy award winner CURTAINS is now available to the public in the U.S. and U.K. exclusively on Prime Video.

Written, directed and produced by husband-and-wife filmmaking team Gar Hoover and Beth Hoover, CURTAINS stars Brendan Dowling as Peter Fleming, an embattled artistic director struggling to keep his experimental theatre afloat. The hilarious portrayal of a die-hard purist in a sellout world won a Best Actor award for Dowling, a member of the world-renowned Improvised Shakespeare Company.
“Festival audiences have shown tremendous support for the film, and we love that the ‘bigger, longer and uncut’ edit can now be seen by everyone,” says director Gar Hoover, who added that the film was created to showcase the unique world and main character of a series project the Hoovers currently have in development. “The extended version plunges us deeper into the psyche of our lead, an avant-garde legend who must confront an increasingly commercialized theatre world that’s fast leaving him behind.”
In addition to its Best Comedy and Best Actor wins, CURTAINS received multiple award nominations on the festival circuit, including Best Cinematic Writing, Best Short Narrative, Best Trailer and Best Supporting Actor for the film’s co-star Chris Woolsey, who portrays combative journalist Mark Pruitt.
CURTAINS was produced under the banner of ideafarm films, an independent film and digital content company based in Chicago. In addition to teaching Story for Film and TV as a team for five years at The Second City, the Hoovers also taught screen narrative for seven years in the film department at Loyola University Chicago.
