CURTAINS NAMED OFFICIAL SELECTION FOR 2018 RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

We're excited to announce that CURTAINS has been selected for the 7th annual Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF), a competitive festival that screens more than 120 international cutting edge films, making it one of the Mid-Atlantic's largest international competitive festivals.

An inclusive and spirited festival designed to honor true film artists, RIFF will present feature and short films of all genres and niches, as well as music videos and web series. In 2016-17, RIFF expanded to add a full scale music festival, which overlaps with the film portion and offers many opportunities for filmmakers and musicians to connect and network.

The week-long festival runs April 23 - 29 in historic downtown Richmond.

 

CURTAINS WINS AWARD OF DISTINCTION AT CANADA SHORTS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

CURTAINS took home Award of Distinction at the 3rd annual Canada Shorts International Film Festival in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Canada Shorts is an indie-focused festival that was founded to champion short filmmaking and recognize high-quality shorts regardless of their budget. The fest's goal is to ensure indie filmmakers have the opportunity for festival success, awarding additional points to short films produced on a micro-budget or with a minimal crew.

The festival took place December 2017 at the Mary Oland Theatre on the Saint John River in New Brunswick.

CURTAINS SELECTED TO SCREEN AT 11TH ANNUAL RED ROCK FILM FESTIVAL IN CEDAR CITY, UTAH

We're super excited to announce that CURTAINS has been named an official selection for the 11th annual Red Rock Film Festival, a nine-day festival and market that runs Nov. 11- 19, 2017 in Cedar City, Utah.

Red Rock, founded in 2007 in Southern Utah, showcases films of all genres from shorts to full-length features. Each year, it's held in Cedar City, aka Festival City, on the heels of the renowned Utah Shakespeare Festival.

Cedar City is home to Kolob Canyon of Zion National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Brian Head Ski Resort, dry desert, sheep herders, ranches, red mountains, green mountains and UFO sightings.

CURTAINS NAMED OFFICIAL SELECTION FOR 2017 LAUGHLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

CURTAINS has been selected to screen at the 6th annual Laughlin International Film Festival, a four-day festival that provides an annual platform for international and U.S. filmmakers to showcase their films.

CURTAINS will screen in a prime Friday slot as part of the short film block, "Coping with Life: The Quirkier Side." Leading up to CURTAINS, five awesome films will screen in the block: "Filling In" (22:00 - Directed by Bradley Hawkins); "Hedda Needs Help" (14:22 - Directed by Lisa Baron); "Uncle Oscar" (21:00 - Directed by Zack Abramowitz); "I Have to Kill My Professor" (10:20 - Directed by Jonathan Pickett); and "The Blind Center" (15:00 - Directed by Timothy Cruz).

Laughlin sits on the Colorado River across from Bullhead City, Ariz.  near the tri-state intersection of California, Arizona and Nevada. Laughlin is roughly 90 miles south of Las Vegas.

The festival runs October 12 - 15, 2017 in Laughlin, Nevada.

 

CURTAINS NAMED OFFICIAL SELECTION FOR 2017 ADIRONDACK FILM FESTIVAL

CURTAINS will be in lineup at the 2017 Adirondack Film Festival, a prestigious festival that screens 80+ films to thousands of patrons annually in upstate New York.

AFF is the sister festival to the storied Adirondack Theatre Festival, a nationally renowned company in its 23rd year of operation dedicated to developing new plays and musicals. The Adirondack Film Festival presents a wide range of genres, but one of its unique focuses is on films that have a connection to the theatre community.

The festival, which curates a selection of independent and studio projects, both feature-length and short films, runs October 19-22 in downtown Glens Falls, NY.

CURTAINS NAMED OFFICIAL SELECTION FOR 21ST ANNUAL L.A. International Short Film Festival

A project from filmmakers Gar and Beth Hoover will make its world premiere at the 2017 L.A. Shorts International Film Festival, one of the largest and most prestigious short film festivals in the world. 

The Academy-qualifying festival's 21st edition will take place in downtown Los Angeles, Aug. 2-10.

CURTAINS, which tells the mostly true story of Peter Fleming, avant-garde theatre legend and one-time bad boy of Cleveland’s experimental scene, was produced by Beth Hoover and directed by Gar Hoover. It was shot entirely in Chicago and brought together incredible talent from the city’s film, theatre and comedy communities.

The film stars longtime Second City performers Brendan Dowling and Christopher Woolsey and features a super-talented supporting cast that includes Wolfgang Stein, Madelyn Murphy, Lara Carling, Kevin Viol, Megan Caton, Cooper Wise, Scott Piebenga, Costa Lapaseotes and Jack Curtin.

Crew includes sound recordist Tom Beach, makeup artist Megan Pirtle, production assistants Jack Curtin and Connor Lane, and second unit cinematographer Max Lollar. Original music was composed by Remington Pettygrove and performed by R. Pettygrove, Joe Shadid and Rob André.

Founded in 1997, L.A. Shorts International Film Festival is officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The festival has screened 50 short films that have gone on to earn an Academy Award nomination. The festival’s alumni directors include Tim Burton, Bryan Singer, Shane Black, Jason Reitman, John Woo, Tony Scott, David Lynch, Terry Gilliam, and Ricky Gervais.
